I noticed the other day that after I had cleaned my cookies and cache using crap cleaner, that Facebook is loaded with trackers. After cleaning everything I went to the login page and sat there for about 10 seconds. I then pulled out Crap Cleaner again and cleaned. Just sitting on the login page I had acquired over 100 trackers. That's BEFORE login. It gets a lot worse the longer you stay on it. It's just an insane place to be.

...And another little tip for those that use FB. If your page continues to jump on you the easiest way to stop that is to go into your settings and take off smooth scrolling. Not sure why that helps but it does. :)

I've never heard of 'crap cleaner". And aren't you the one who posted about Glarys Utilities? I've been using it ever since and pay for the pro version. There's also Facebook Container for Firefox that traps others. I'm not sure if it works for other browsers or not.

I'm rarely on FB, TW, etc. for those reasons and many more. No security and will gather any and all intel on you they can.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that I also use CCleaner as it removes some things that Glary's doesn't and vice versa. ;) I try to remember to run them on the weekends and do a thorough cleaning since I normally don't want them running on Windows startup.

CCleaner is Crap Cleaner and I use it all the time. I may have posted about Glary utilities awhile ago yes. I haven't used it in a while. Maybe I should give it a try again.

Brave browser is good but how does it do against FB. :???

Sadly it isn't just Facebook that tracks you, every free service is tracking you. Also most paid ones as well.
If you have a spare low power computer a raspberry pi or a mini PC you can run Pi-hole to block most request at the DNS level. Just a warning this might annoy your significant other when they try to click Instagram ads  ;D luckily you can setup rules to bypass devices.

I have mine setup to stop Windows telemetry, website tracking, ads, known malware urls. I also had to block googles DNS 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 as most IOT devices use it as a default DNS this forces them to use my network DNS to block tracking.

There is no "one-solve-all" solution. You need to do your homework to see which one(s) will work best for you. In my experiences, you will need to use a combination of tools. This includes, a firewall, anti-virus, browser with ad-blocking, tools that remove trackers, etc. such as CCleaner and Glary's. This is because there is no way any of those companies/tools can provide a complete solution. The bad guys are coming at us from more angles than you can imagine each and every day.

If you do research, yearly, on which one is the best you'll always see that it will not always be the same one. Every 6 month-a year, I do research to see which is the best at certain things and will switch to those, if needed.

Again, see the above.

I rarely use FB. So, I can't say if it does or not. However, I do love how it blocks all youtube ads. :rgton

I would like to get a VPN tbh. I think that would solve most problems.

Skhilled

No, a VPN will only change your IP address which will let them think you are in another location. But, you will still get cookies and trackers on your devices that you use...just like the ones used on this site. ;)

You'll still have to use tools like CCleaner, etc. as well as your AV/Firewall apps to remove them regularly. ;)

Bigguy

There are no trackers on this site. Just cookies. I think the two are different. Unless they changed the terminology for it. :dontknow

Um, you might want to read this. Cookies are the original 'trackers' but known as such, at first.

Bigguy

Ok, so cookies and trackers are the same thing. That's fine. There is only one cookie on this site and it's just for this site. Nothing gets sold to anyone, lol.

Maybe they haven't offered you enough money yet! :rflmao

Bigguy

There's not enough money available to sell out members of this site. :rgton

If you aren't paying for the product, you ARE the product.

But your point that paid ones track you as well is now equally valid.

You think your activity while using FB is the problem - what about the fact that your hone listens to things you say all the fucking time and targets ads that way.

Try for example to discuss with your partner for a day something you wouldn't normally discuss like buying a new car or buying a house or going on holiday to a certain country.

Then watch the targeted ads roll in.

My brother and I do this all the time. Talk for hours on the phone. Him on his cell and me on a landline with my cell next to me. Ads start popping up before we are done the phone call.
