Internet Discussion / Resetting WHM To Default State
Last post by Skhilled - Oct 25, 2021, 10:27 AM
I've posted a question in cPanel forums asking if there was a way to revert back to the state it was in when you first installed it. Of course, there isn't a way to do this...yet. So, I've added a Feature Request to add this so it works to make things user friendly for everyone. :)

I've also offered a VPS for testing in hopes to get this moving along faster. ;)

Yes sorry CSF is a firewall for servers, you could deny the IP addresses in .htaccess I think the IP Deny function of cpanel just puts deny [ip address] in that file. You can test it by copying an IP address then viewing the file in file manager.

It wont be as efficient as an iptables/csf block but it is better than nothing. Stopforum has a mod for the older SMF forum.
http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=1547 someone might be able to pick up the code and modify it to work with the new forum.

You can add them in Global Email Filters for all of your sites under that account or Email filters for just that account.

I'm starting to think this is a mod or custom coding issue cause you can't even see the list of Packages in the admin. It shows the file permissions page instead.

The reason given in the error says:
Script, file extension
I looked in the root /tmp directory and there aren't even any new files in it. The newest one is from a few months ago.

General Support / strange errors
Last post by lesmond - Oct 18, 2021, 04:09 AM
Been getting some strange errors from CSF being sent, which I assume are caused by SMF. :dontknow

These are in the root/tmp folder on the server, but I cant see what is causing them.

email subject = lfd on xxxxxx.xxxxxxx. com: Suspicious File Alert
Time:   Mon Oct 18 04:05:12 2021 -0400
File:   /tmp/smf_cache_afbf4b8f0d4974ed4c1271589d71a9c5/db_last_error.php
Reason: Script, file extension
Owner:  nobody:nobody (99:99)
Action: No action taken

Why would SMF cache files be in the root/tmp folder? :???

Quote from: lesmond on Oct 16, 2021, 04:14 AMHaving said that, you will not be able to access CSF unless you run your own server/VPS, I doubt that your hosting will add any of those email blocks  :dontknow

I don't run own server or VPS. Its a hosted thing. I had a look through control panel and there doesn't seem to be any options for it... :(
