Backup Systems for VPS Server

I have a VPS Host server, it is mine and I have allowed another to share it.

It contains two (2) cPanels one for each forum. I could add more forums, but not necessary right now.

Jet Backup is in there but not activated, I understand Jet Backup is not all the good.

What would you recommend for me, and will it cover both cpanels.

These are Arcade Gaming forums so there is a huge amount of resources.

@Ronald, I've used R1Soft Backups ($14/month) in the past and they've always been very good although I haven't used them in a few years. They were part of shared hosting packages from other hosting I've used in the past:

Or you can do like we do and rent a very cheap dedicated or VPS backup server. you'll have full control over everything and won't have to worry about someone else accessing your stuff.

WHM has the option to also send backups offline to a server you designate. You don't need anything special, etc. as it will only be just to store backups. You will need to remember to check it once in awhile to make sure it's not full especially if for some reason it doesn't delete the old backups automatically.

Sorry, Ron was very busy and those are mostly for PC users. Here's some options for VPS and dedicated servers:

You would set those up using the backup option in WHM for some and using FTP for others. But as I've said before, getting a cheap VPS for a few dollars/month would be best. Then, you can just back everything up to that and not worry about having a bad service or anyone messing with your data.

I'd recommend looking into Amazon S3 (see http://foteezy.com/how-to-setup-amazon-s3-backup-option-for-whm/ for more). I use the free tier for mine (via a Plesk extension) and only pay a small amount each month (usually a few cents) once I exceed the limits of the free option.

For now I just reinstated Jet Backup, so I have to remember to download the backups and save them to my external hard drives..

What's wrong with backing the site up using cpanel or WHM.

The point is that if something happens to the server then you lose everything. Having an off-site backup saves a lot of headache and work.
We backup the server to another server, just in case something bad happens. This is especially useful if fixing the first server is take a long time to get it back up and running.

Oh, I understand that. It is way better to do it your way than any other for sure. If I wanna backup this site though I just do it through cpanel or what not. I guess though, the bigger the site gets the more I will need an off-site backup solution.

Since our backup server is in the same data center uploading the backup will be very fast! We'd just use rsync which is great (and fast) for transferring files.
