Some news from around SMF. WebDev is making great progress on a few mods. EhPortal is coming along great. As well as the Arcade. Both can be used on the new version of SMF 2.1 This portal and the arcade mod are still in beta/rc but are functional and have very few bugs. Also in the works over there is a mod called Zhen Mailer. This mod helps with backing up your site.

There are a few more mods available over there at WebDev. I suggest that, if you have a moment or three you pop on over and say hey to Chen Zhen and see what is goin on. Maybe if you get involved in the beta program you can test out some updated versions of his hard work.

He does so. I may put the arcade up here. Still have not made up my mind on that. I know it would not get used alot but it would be fun to have.

There is a new beta out for SMF Arcade. They are workin hard over there on the arcade and it is running great on 2.1 on this site. The new version number is 2.57.0 beta 5. If you have beta access you should update your version to the latest beta release.

Another new beta release just a few days ago. SMF Arcade 2.6.1-RC23. It looks good. I have not installed it here yet but may be doing that soon.

Check it out, I have upgrade I believe about 12 RC's so far. https://arcadeholics.net/index.php

Chen brings out a RC about every two to four days.

SMF Arcade is now SMF Arcade 2.6.2RC7



RC7 has been released.
The RAR decompression & compression works well as long as the requirements are met.
This is only for people that really want that support.
I have added an option to disable RAR compression support altogether even if all the criteria are met to enable it because currently it uses shell commands. There is a PHP package available for compression (RarArchiver) but it wasn't working properly when I last tested it. It has been updated recently so perhaps in the future I will change/update this.
Decompression can remain as is because that only uses straight PHP and is available if the appropriate PHP package is installed & enabled.

Unless anyone here reports an issue, this will likely be released as stable some time Sunday evening (EST).

Some forums have shut the arcades down, until they resolve the JVArcade game issues.

My Arcdae forum does not run any JVArcade games

It is still Beta, but Chen is making it better all the time. He is now going to be doing some work coding in Challenges, like Game of the day, Game of the week, Game of the month.

Webdev looks to be going strong. I noticed a new version of the arcade there that is in RC state. That might be interesting to try. I didn't see whether or not his battle mod was update for 2.1 yet. Anyone have any ideas. :???

Sorry, meant to respond to this earlier. LOL AFAIK, Battle has not been updated lately but I could be wrong. I haven't been checking in a lot lately. Lately, the arcade has been the most attention.

If you are a beta tester you can see what is coming up next. ;) I do know he's been busy lately with life and some coding.

I am a beta tester and may put the arcade on this site shortly, not to sure. I didn't look to hard at Battle but it is a good game. I'll have to go back over and check it out.

I thought you were but didn't check. The beta section in the downloads is the only place for the RC versions.

For now, I'd suggest sticking with the stable arcade version until things settle with the smf upgrading for awhile.

There was a problem on GH about SMF not playin nice with some .zip files. I'm wondering if this is what I ran into.

I've installed another test site with 2.0.19, then upgraded it to 2.1.1 then installed the stable arcade 2.6.7 and all was good after installing one game. LOL Haven't installed any RC versions yet.

I have been running the Beta version now since 2019, I upgrade whenever Chen puts it up. I think, not sure but maybe only 3 or 4 doing the testing, and reporting.

Check it out Geoff, there are going to be some major changes to the arcade.
