That's very cool. You did a good job on that man. Nicely done. :rgton

Thank you!  I'll give it a go in the next few days.

The only issue that jumps out from the screen shot is the lack of contrast bnetween the logo, and the blue sky background...   If I didn't want to change either is there any 'solution' ?

maybe a white border would look better?

Hmm for some reason, in MS Edge, those images don't magnify when I click 'em. Or at least one did (the new one) but only once - now it won't.

In any event that does look clearer I think.

Let me install the theme when I get a chance and then I'll make a call on it. Ta.

BTW are themes installed just like any mod or by some other means?

You install themes via, Admin > Configuration > Themes and Layout > Manage and Install.

Don't use the package manager.  ;)

LandyVlad

Yeah just saw that. Cheers

Why do I so often lately find myself telling myself "You're a dick!" ?

OK - installed ! :)

Quote from: lesmond on Feb 20, 2019, 10:06 AMmaybe a white border would look better?

That does look good but perhaps the white is too dazzling ?

(as you've made the image file though I'd love a copy.)

Is the current logo outlined in black or blue? I think black might work as a delineator as long as its as thick as that white outline..?

As far as the theme goes its great - certainly a great start to build on. I'm thinking that the blue used (in header bars) is a touch too bright, maybe needs to be a bit darker? I'll give it some thought.

Also I think the default text colour, rather than the lighter blue is easier to read.
(The default seems like a dark blue maybe?)

@lesmond PLEASE don't think I'm being overly critical, and naturally give up on me any time you like :) but I am a bit of a perfectionist once I get going.... .

I'm extremely grateful for everything you've done to date.

Is the theme SMF version 2.1 RC2 compatibility issue noted by Ronald in the coffee theme thread likely to be a problem for the drone theme too?

If so any chance of a change?  Ta mate.

@lesmond

aarrrggghhhh I just updated by uninstalling all the mods and the theme, then installing mods etc.
(Just before you did the latest theme file update it would seem)
Some of the mods (of course) make changes to the theme files)

Also the old background is back (the one that has the drone rather than just the normal cloudy sky image)
In directory Themes/Drone/images/theme there is a file drone-back3.jpg which is the background image file.
Where is it called from ?? Not in theme settings. Must be in one of the theme files itself?

Is there an easy list of changes so I could manually edit the theme files or should I start all over again?

lesmond

this is the background without the drone, just overwrite  this one in the folder \Drone\images\theme\drone-back3.jpg

There is a lot of changes in index.css from rc1 to rc2

What theme did you install, the one you already had? Or the new one Les did for RC2?

I only ask because the one Les attached yesterday which is updated for RC2 only has one download, and that was me just now.  So are you installing the old RC1 version on RC2?

Your RC2 theme already contains the image without the drone Les.  It looks like the old RC1 version is being installed for some reason.

Oh fark, so that means I basically redownloaded the RC1 theme... so I have to start again... :(

Correct me if I'm wrong but if I guess correctly then you
1, Did an edit just to tell it it was compatible with RC2 and attached that to the first post.
(this would be the one I downloaded)
and then
2. You made some more changes and updated the fist post again with more changes included in the theme file.

Sound right?

(Meanwhile I've manually updated the background for now)

Well, that could be what happened.  Take a look at the edit time stamp top of the first post,

When I view it, it says "Last Edit: Yesterday at 12:02 pm by lesmond  - Reason: Updated theme zip for rc2 "

Obviously the time might be a tad different for you, as I'm in the UK.  But if you downloaded it before the stated time, yes.

That said, if this was the case I've no idea what the prior zip contained because that's gone. So post above is based purely on what I downloaded today.

Sigh. Seems like I'll have to uninstall my mods and theme, do the theme again and reinstall mods.

I looked at the files and the one available now is 4KB larger than the one I downloaded and installed so I guess there was a change in that time...
(568KB vs 564KB)

I might wait until tomorrow after @lesmond  has had a chance to comment.

Well I guess so.  How many mods do you run on 2.1 RC2?  I didn't think there was that many.  TinyPortal can stay, it's hooks only, there's absolutely no file edits made by that. ;)   Edit: That said, we're probably about to make a release of TP 1.6.3 very shortly anyway.

lesmond

Sorry I missed this, I could just give you the index.css file I changed, then all you would have to do is replace that. unless your mods make changes to that?

I said it would be released shortly.  Well now it is.  ;)  You can grab your copy of TinyPortal 1.6.3 from the SMF Mods Site, or from the TinyPortal support site.

Hi mate if it was just the index.css that was changed then yep, for sure I'd love a copy of that.
I can check by manually parsing whether the mods made any changes to that file specifically.

The mods I use are:

TinyPortal (just updated to 1.6.3 release version)

SMF Gallery Pro

That's it for now.

From what I can see none of those make any changes to themes, so you can download the new zip and replace the one you have.

LandyVlad

When I deleted the drone theme and then installed it again, it made some theme changes IIRC ?
Or maybe that was RC2?
Or maybe it was one of those mods after all.

Damn I'm confusing myself now.

So - delete existing drone theme and then install it again from the new zip?

Unzip the theme and upload index.css too the css folder within the drone theme, and BoardIndex.template.php to the drone theme folder.

Thanks I'll have a crack at that tonight probably.
