This is going to be a list of free software that will run on current o/s's for desktops and laptops only. Not tablets or cells.

FileZilla for FTP
LibreOffice and Apache OpenOffice for office suites
GIMP - image editing
Inkscape - vector graphics
7-Zip - archive utility
Notepad++ - code editor
Paint.NET - image editing (less intimidating than GIMP; not sure how they compare feature-wise)

Obviously GOOD free software, recommended by forum members - as opposed to just 'any' free software, the list of which is nearly endless and mostly useless.  :)
Please do not PM me with questions on astrophysics or theology.  You will get better and faster responses by asking homeless people in the street. Thank you.

I would advise anyone about using Avast or AVG virus protect, it installs AvLaunch which is almost impossible to remove, AvLaunch is
Quoteavlaunch.exe is a legitimate file. This process is known as AVLaunch MFC Application. It belongs to AVLaunch Application. It is commonly stored in C:\Windows\System32. Malware authors write different types of malicious programs and name them as avlaunch.exe to spread virus.

Note: sometimes free software is not as good as paid software..Free doesn't give you all the benefits.

I use a lot of those and have used all of them at one time or another except:

...until now. Works great! :) Here's one...

Works great while using any other software or just to pick up screen colors.

I love all of the features it has! My fav is the ability to save a list of picked colors like from a theme. Saves a lot of time later! ;)

RJ TextEd - Very good and free text editor. Notepad++ is still my fav. LOL

GSplit - A file splitter in case you have files that are too large to send via email or upload.

Bigguy

I will add those in today at some point.
