SHOW US YER... Front pages !

Who has a site which uses the front page - with TinyPortal - to provide content that might replace a worpdress style cover page?

I'd like to see examples of what's possible.

My forum (frontpage): https://www.gsx1400owners.org/forum/

I'm looking to construct a front page - by whatever means is most effective - to replace the wordpress install and provide that information via TP panels and blocks.

I don't need the video (that's probably too much to ask anyway) using gallery images would be fine.  (SMF Gallery)

It's not actually for this forum - at least not at this stage - but rather for another forum I am building. I'd like to get that new forum looking pretty flash from the outset and if I can accomplish this using TP that would be ideal for me.

You should be able to recreate that look in a single front page block, or spread it over more blocks with the visuals turned off to make it look like one block. You don't have to show any other blocks or panel on the front page unless you want to.

The https://www.tinyportal.net/index.php front page is (apart from the sample blocks) made up of four blocks.  It's was basically split up like that to make editing to each section easier for me. (Excuse the auto ads, they seem to have taken over).

One thing to note is, because the portal is integrated into SMF so you're going to see the SMF header and navigation on the front page.

Yeah that's fine. I guess the complication comes where its a (small but multipage) wordpress site like mine - I don't really understand enough about how the articles system works to make it easy for people to navigate between 'articles' ?

And also how/where articles are better than posts and vice-versa.

Post:  forum posts are of a more interactive nature where you discuss things on a given topic.

Articles are used where you want to write a more in depth and detailed writeup on a given subject, so each in-depth subject will have its own page.

TP Articles are just pages which you can add to your site, and can be used for all manner of things to be honest. If you look at our TinyPortal Documentation site, the whole thing is made up using the article system. https://www.tinyportal.net/docs/index.php

I also use them for gear reviews etc, clicking on one of the pages in this index as an example, https://guitaristguild.com/index.php?page=articles
