Internet Discussion / How Fast Is Your Site?

The following site will test your site's speed and offer tips on how to optimize it. :rgton

https://gtmetrix.com

I ran tests with my 2.0 and 2.1 SMF forums and 2.1 is faster. But I think they could probably do a bit better. Having a hosting that uses compression like Brotli, etc. will also help.

SMF 2.1 / Re: How can I prevent posting ...

Sorry, Landy... " new user group" should've been "Regular Members" group.

I made a group based off the "Regular Members" group, renamed it to "DS User" group. Then edited the "Regular Members" group to suit my needs. In this way all new users will not be able to post links, etc. providing that you do the following first:

QuoteEDIT: Just remembered... Go to Admin -> Members -> Permissions -> Settings. Make sure to enable the two settings that are there or you will not be able to deny permissions nor set post count based groups.

1.  Enable the option to deny permissions.
2. Enable permissions for post count based groups.

Then make sure your "Newbie" group's setting for this is:
Quote"Inherit permissions:
Select "No" to enable group to have own permission set."

...is set to "No" so that post count group has its own permissions.
