let's say I am going to update a test forum from 2.0.18 to SMF 2.1RC4...
Which file should I actually be using?
When I checked on Github I couldn't find an RC4 file (presumably as that's already been released) so should I use the current code for 2.1final? Or... ?

This trick may not work for everyone does for some in the Beta versions:

So, I update from 2.0.17 to 2.018 and reinstalled mods.
When I used my bookmark to access the forum,
https://gsx1400owners.org/forum/index.php?action=unread
it didn't work.
I had to go to https://gsx1400owners.org/ which defaults to https://gsx1400owners.org/wp and from there click on forum on the menu
I want to create a 2.1 forum so I can make a few videos about it.

Trying to upgrade 2.0.17 to 2.0.18 using the large upgrade package.
I've uploaded the new files and run upgrade.php
It asks me for my admin credentials - and I used my usual admin username and password I use when logging into the forum. It wouldn't let me in.
So I followed the instructions and edited
