I don;t kow how to describe it treally.

I want to copy my smf forum files etc (reatijign directory structure) from one host to anoterh host/domain name.

Ideally I'd like to avoid downloading it all to my computer then re-uploading - my broadband is not as fast as it ought to be!

Does that make sense?

You can directly ftp them across.  Either via command line or a shell script.

Some hosts actually do that for you, my new host 'Hostinger' did it for me. You have to give them your cpanel username and password. It's actually really helpful

What @Dave says is the easiest way to do it. Ask both the old host and the new host if they will transfer your site. Then all that needs to be done is changing the DNS on your url.
