Can someone please explain to me, how I can move my forum to the public_html.

Bigguy

If in Cpanel, highlight all folders in the directory that holds your forum files. Click move, a dialogue box will pop up. It should have the path in it were you are as in: "public_html/forum". Just leave the words "public_html" in the dialogue box and press ok. Upload and use repair_settings.php. That should be it.

What has repair_settings to do with it?

Bigguy

You moved the forum files so you have to change all the urls

Should I make a new folder in there for the forum also.
Change to what?

Bigguy

If your forum was at: www.mysite.com/forum and you put it in public_html than you have moved the site from a folder "forum" to public_html = www.mysite.com, therefore you must use repair_settings.php to change the urls so the database knows where things are.

Not if you want it in public_html which is www.mysite.com

so OK now I change it to public_html now it show this error:

What is wrong, what am I doing wrong here?

Bigguy

No, arcadeholics.net would be your public_html.

OK Thanks, I understand now, because that is what I see when I open the file.
Will do this later this morning.

Pounding down rain since early last night, no stopping .

Ronald

It would not move the files under that name, I got error message. So I blanked it out and clicked moved.

That's about it, history, arcadeholics.net is floating somewhere in outer space. One more failure.

Bigguy

Where where all your files BEFORE you tried to move them :???

As soon as you open the files. Otherwards not in the public_html, because that is where I was trying to move them.

The forum is gone, yet I can see the files in the cpanel, yet when I click on arcadeholics.net, it shows files empty. So who knows where the files went?

Bigguy

What was the url to your forum before you moved the files :???  Was it something like this:

arcadeholics.net/forum
