I am in the Beta Group, haven't done anything lately.

Probably amounts to much the same thing.
So the beta has started with the beta group?
Anyone know how long 2.1.2 was in beta before it was released?  Ta

I really do need to get off my bum and upgrade my gsx1400owners forum so I can whack @lesmond 's theme on there :)

But (whether it's still true or not) I've seen a few posts where people reckon there are issues with 2.1.2 that don't make it ideal to do the upgrade at this point?

I heard of something awhile back about the upgrader but I haven't read about any problems with it lately on GH.

I've used 2.1.2 since launch without issue on a fairly large active forum (https://www.vguitarforums.com).  It's safe.

Some 2.1.x upgraded sites lost their attachments along the way.  All signs point to folder moves/restructures not being reflected in the attachments settings.  It can't migrate what it can't find...  2.1.3 adds a (probably overdue...) check to confirm the folders exist up front.

The biggest issues in 2.1.2 are around the timeliness of notifications/notification counter & the fact attachments can sometimes get lost after an error/resubmit.

Those issues are addressed in 2.1.3.

When I tried to join I never got a response. So, I never tried again.

taps fingers, awaits 2.1.3 :)

SMF 3.0 is officially in the works now. Probably deserves its own topic but I can't start topics in this board and can't think of a better place to put it. https://github.com/SimpleMachines/SMF/tree/release-3.0

Of particular interest is this: https://github.com/SimpleMachines/SMF/pull/7847

I saw that. That's in 2.1 though. I know it will be in 3.0 as well but still trying to figure out what it does that code. Nice to see 3.0 in the works. I will make a topic for this after work today. Nice post :rgton

That's not in 2.1 though. It was merged into a new "release-3.0" branch.

That large PR changes the SMF code to OOP instead of the procedural format we've used since the beginning. I haven't looked at it too much yet but it's pretty cool.

Ok. I did hear talk of that awhile ago. Very cool. :rgton

QuoteObject-oriented programming (OOP) is a computer programming model that organizes software design around data, or objects, rather than functions and logic. An object can be defined as a data field that has unique attributes and behavior.
