The problem is that a lot of the more famous sites rely on data mining and don't stop to think nor care if they get hacked.

It will be interesting to see what the Australian government will do, depends how many citizens are exposed they will get a fine not a big one for them. People want it to be 30% or revenue not sure if they will change it to that.

They need to impose massive fines and more on these companies. Personally, I think it's possible that some of these companies are selling the data and calling it a breach so that they can get away with it because they won't get fined much. They'll make much more from the sale to cover the cost of the fines.

I only use Whatsapp other than that I use no other social media sites, I don't count my website as a social media site. It would be interesting to see what would happen if Trump's plans to check the social media of people wanting to visit the USA came into force, they probably wouldn't believe that I don't have any 

I only use Quora and Reddit on occasion. Reddit can be helpful. They has support sub for a lot of software.

Never used instgram myself....or most of the others. I tried them at some point but never continued.
