Thank  you Sir . You and 627 have helped in the past with queries I had . I need to prob got to the 2.1 but I understand I would (Might ) lose some functions ,like no banner feature, and maybe my whole Header .

It shouldn't be to hard to help you out. You are on 2.0.19 are you not...yeah I'm on your site now. From what I see, the upgrade should go smooth. Do you have a lot of files custom edited or do you just have modifications installed.

as  far as I KNOW.....lol just some mods and the custom header I have a custom Icon prog  ( I THINK YOU BUILT ) for some reason would NOT work on my site  vgamer modded a few years ago for me where I can change the icon for boards directly in my admin panel and like I mentioned the Header crip  by anecdota ? . I heard that the current php may not be supported in updateing ? or some other code . I built this and my other sites many years ago and mow at 73 I just don't know come here from siccum and afraid I will just mess everything up .I do or would like to keep the scrolling banner featurein message or News in header and be able to use in posts but was told it would NOT migrate . Here is a screenshot of what is installed if  this helps .  Dzonny had migrated all my sites from V bulletin to SMF several years ago but after his accident has not been in touch plus he is in another timezone and country. Definately intrested in getting work done if I can afford it .....lol I know it takes a lot of time and brain wranglin on old sites like mine . There are some quirks in 2.1  when it first came out I mentioned on the other site but they just got shuffled under the carpet or may have been taken care of by now . Those mods don't look all that bad to be honest. I would have to do a bit of research before and if anything happened. I am just getting back into things after a long hiatus due to complications here at home. I'm sure you can afford it....we don't charge for helping people out.

If you do decide to go down the route of updating to 2.1 remember to uninstall all the mods you have on the site first. There are a minority that say it doesn't matter but it does because by uninstalling mods you remove the tables from the database so it' doesn't conflict with the new process. Some mods will leave tables in the database but that's fine if you want or can re-install the latest version.

I suggest you do a little checking on which mods installed have updates to 2.1 if there are any that don't, then if when uninstalling you see a check box that says 'Remove all files and database entries.' check the box so it removes the tables in the database, if there are any mods that have 2.1 versions then don't check the box.

I know that the Custom Board Icons has a version for 2.1 but you need to check if the version you have is compatible with the 2.1 version

Thanks for the welcome but I have been around a while and on simplemachines forum but have to be VEWY VEWY CAREFUL posting there or get your head chewed off by some of the Script kiddies .....lol

 I like the jist of my sites running in 2.0 and am reluctant to update for possible loss of functions I am use to . You and several others here have helped me out in the past like 5 or 6 years ago but I been under the weather from mis diagnosed Quackery the last few years and just kinda getting back to my forums . I can't code my Garage door opener but have managed to work around sometimes within the scripts but at 73 my learning curve is mostly a straight line .

 I am content with 2.0 and its functions but some of those are missing in 2.1 that I have become accustomed to. I have a GOB of domains and sites that don't make me any money but mostly help sites and don't even know why I do it anymore  since No Good Deed Goes Un-Punished these days it seems . You try and help someone and they bite your head off or argue with you or are one time posters and NEVER add back to your site  . I am sure you are aware of the Trends. I am mostly hosted with go daddy and it is a true pain in da ARSE but it is what it is . I understand I will probably be FORCED to update everything to 2.1 as I heard through the grapevine that the php level currently running on my sites will no longer be supported ( like I even understand WTF php is .....lol I was digging through the c-panel last night on my go -papa panel and THEY are going to  start charging me @ 2 bux a copy per month  to keep running the php version I have running now when  My so called Maximum Package renews in a few months. I ain't happy because 1 they never contacted me about it and B ( a little funny David Letterman use to do when sequencing ) it is unclear if they are going to charge 2 bux per site (Domain ) or 2 bux for the package . Anywho I am old school if it ain't broke don't mess with it. I drive old cars ,use old fishing reels, run old software , still have vinyl and bakelite  Records,  vhs,4 track tapes, cut my own hair ,never eat out , grow my own vegies, Just a Regular ol Dinosaur. 
 Just a fluke I noticed is createaforum.com forums for example one I have up still

Yes, I do remember you. LOL I'm 9 years younger than you and still have a lot of those old things like VHS and cassette tapes, etc. I don't know why I still keep them. LOL

Sooner or later, you may have to upgrade to 2.1 for security reason. Either way, we'll be glad to help you.
