I haven't read the entire thread but - why are you on GoDaddy? I am sure you'll have seen advice everywhere to avoid them as they can be very... problematic.

The WHOLE SHEBANG here is YEP I KNOW (of course in my OPINION) Go- Daddy is HORRIBLE in any form or fashion HOWEVER it is all I can afford that has all the options I have . I have somewhere around 16 Domains registered all over the place and all hosted with the aforementioned problematic company for too many years.

I as of Yet NOT switched Steve but am  seriously considering Registering all my Domains and hosting Package  to one company however MOST of the Good ones mentioned here and on Simple Machines Forum only allow 1 domain and charge xtra for the others plus are kinda pricey  and have no phone support. I have used quite a few over the 25 years or more that I have had a forum including ,Host Gator,Host My Site,a few local hosts no longer in business, and currently Go Daddy.Many  charge  a fee  to migrate each site plus 15 to 20 a pop to register. I am in my 70's and on social security and can not afford much and no longer familiar with do it myself . I am HAPPY as A Tick on a Fat Dog with SMF 2.0.9 however was told I HAD TO update the php to 8.4 or what ever to continue using it as Most Hosts would not support but also was told 2.0 won't run in the latest php version .I also am very Happy running 2.0 as it has mods and functions that will not run in 2.1 . I am considering switching to another host and They Talk The Talk but don't know if they can Walk The Walk Plus it is going to take me a while to sell some stuff to pay for it and that is when a lot of my domains renew and Go Daddy MAXIMUM PACKAGE Renews as well  so just looking ahead .This all started when I was looking around in my c-panel and saw a new charge coming up when my service Renewed in a few months plus they sneaked in a NEW Platform on 3 sites I was not told about and said the Free Trail was up and was going to hit me with 25 or so bux per site which I was never advised about nor wanted. It only took me 4 and a half hours talking to a Yittish, Farsi , or Greek accented lady who would not listen that I did NOT WANT nor ask for the service . Big Guy has showed me quite a few helpful things as well as Dave,and Skhilled plus I have burned a lot of Midnight Oil Reading .
Another thing is my internet service . I only connect at .27 t0 .56 and can't do SHIT with those blazing speeds like uploading or back ups or downloading and that is IF the service is working at all . Have talked with agian yittish,Fari, Greek accented folks at Fur Risin for many hours each time and stuff works while on the phone with them at BEST 23.3 (which is supose to be 5G at 200 ) NEVER EVEN CLOSE to that and( always 4G or Less ) but when we hang up within minutes goes back to the same damn speed. SOOOOO Lightspeed for the last 6 months or so have been installing optic fiber I guess under the late Prez's  Govt plan for Rural Service and I have signed up for less than I pay  Fur Rizin  but won't start until mid February .

I am looking at Green Geeks for web-hosting .
They SEEM to have a good option for me comparable to G0- Daddy's Maximum Package I have been with for 12 years. However in trying to just contact their sales dept I have been on hold once for 10 minutes an had to hang up to do other things. Called back and was on hold for 22 minutes  also had to take another call so I disconnected . After that I tried to get a persovn four more times only to get a recording about thier office hours and I was well within those parameters. If it is going to be this much trouble just to buy somethin I wonder how the 24 Hour  PhoneTech Support will be??? May be a Sign !!!!!

One thing that you need to realize is that... Most hosting companies don't do person to person calls unless it's an emergency or you are paying extra for it.

You also need to realize that they may have a lot of calls and not enough staff. You'll probably get faster service with email, if you send it to the correct department. If, they have multiple departments.

You are right but they advertise phone support and all that jazz and at a reasonable price . I guess at my age I am like a doctor that had his License revoked .
 I just don't the patience anymore

At war with VERIZON . Been on phone over 6 hours the last few days . Getting fiber on Feb 16. Still trying to get another host I can afford and will do what I need . Going to have Denture  surgery this next Monday. Mother had Dentures at 43 at 450 bux   .Me at &3 is going to cost over 12 thousand . Insurance will only pay 2200 of that. Had to sell one of my old Cars to get the rest . They want 52 Grand  and  up for implants .

My wife has to have dental work done due to the cancer. The cancer clinic in London says they will do the pulling for free but you have to get your own dentures....4 grand I think it is or so. I feel your pain man.

• Sadly I don't offer any support, I'll try to help if you raise a topic here but that could take a while.
• Latency will be an issue, the server is in Australia, you are in the US it won't feel as snappy
• PHPMail() is disabled in the firewall, you will need to setup SMTP to send emails.

That was my biggest problem for many years...Verizon and them not willing to upgrade the lines in the city that you live in while continuing to get DSL speeds at a high speed price. Verizon said that it's up to the city/county to upgrade the lines to fiber optic for better speeds, while the city would say the opposite.

Big tech is the one who is make the big bucks and should do the upgrading, "IF" they want to keep their current users AND attract new users.   That, and many other reasons, are why I moved away from them.

For Learning 2.1 and doing all the mods that would be perfect . I will leave my active sites  as they are and just direct ?one of my parked domains  to your server ? then install the 2.1 package  and start adding mods to get to where I am on my working sites running 2.0
 
  AND SKHILLED I have Wireless internet with Fur Risin and phones and have spent the better part of the week arguing on phone with Harelipped Morons  with some off the wall dialect the universal Translator on Star Trek Voyager could not begin to decipher then today went to the Corporate owned Fir Rison store an hour away and talked with supposedly the Head Technician who knew less than I know who messed up my phone during the process to where I can not access files from my phone to my computer nor send photos in a text message to some of my contacts  and tried to sell me new damn Phones and a three year contract  . I CAN get files to computer but it is a Royal Pain in THE ARSE whereas it was automatic before .   I should have internet prob solved on the 16th with Fiber  after my Dental surgery but going to probably go with Straight Talk for phone svc  and get  tethering on one of them for fartin around away from hardwired at home and Fir Risin can put Barbed Wire Tourniquet's on their Necks . I was able to get them to call a direct line to a FLUENT  ENGLISH  Speaking tech  at Verizon and she was very polite and apologetic that I was a customer for over 20 years and would take care of this but time was getting away and we had to get home and she agreed to cal me in the morning and go over all the probs which I thought was thoughtful .Whether this transpires is yet to be seen .
 I really appreciate all the help you folks have done here for this ol Hard Headed German .
BTW I know old Cars especially old Mercedes and Old Fishing Reels if any of you need info or help on anything just ask.

IF you are going to allow me server access to install files and such that would be a Grave ERROR on your part . I can take off and land a 737 however it has been a while and I could put some Dents in one now . I have many sites hosted with smfforfree and createaforum.com however with those you only have the Admin privileges within you particular forum not able to load or change code or things of that nature at the server level .  The last time I moved anything of any size was using win expoloder in Win 3.5 , and I can work wihin the HTML code like changeing the wording in a help file and copyright dates at bottom of  pages on my active sites when I can find then in the guts  Now if this would be a Virtual type deal where I would not or Could not throw a wrench in the Sprigenwerkens  on other forums hosted there then ok . That's why I am leaning towards just getting a temp web host for 3 or four bux a month as opposed to using my Go Daddy account so as not to mess up everything on it .  Giving me access to your Working System would be like giving a Loaded Machine Gun to a Drunk Monkey at a Taylor Swift Concert.
