On my drone flight forum I have numerous boards but by wayof example under category 'Picture and Video Showcase' I have boards

Videos by Drone

Photos by Drone

Panos by drone

etc

ONLY the photos by drone is visible to regular members as admin I can see ALL of them naturally.

Permissions appear to be set identical - the 'regular members' checkbox is ticked.

So WTF is going on ???

Are you using the "Deny board" permission at all. :hwhat

@LandyVlad On another note: You also have image placeholders showing all over your gallery, because the new.gif is missing from,

Themes/Drone/images/english/new.gif

Just a heads up.  ;)

There is no image folder for english that I know of?

I know Les. But that's where the gallery mod is calling it from. He'll just have to add a folder titled english, and drop the new.gif into it, then it will work..

Or mod the gallery files to suite.  I'd just add the folder to be honest, much easier. ;)

actually there is an english folder in smf2.0.15 but not 2.1

Here's A blue one to go with the theme :emb

Yep, I'm guessing that was an oversight when making that gallery mod 2.1 compatible.  Still not a biggy adding that folder though. ;)

LandyVlad

Ok thank you for that. I can't access folders etc at work so I'll drop that in hopefully tonight. I wonder if that is the cause of the errors that have been popping up for the gallery (different thread).  Anyway ta.

The above is very much appreciated.

Now bringing the thread back to the OP...

Not that I know of, where would I find that please?

In your Boards and Categories settings in the admin panel. Under forum.

Bigguy

If you haven't updated your version of SMF 2.1 though I would not use them as there was a bug in that awhile ago.

LandyVlad

OK on that page I do not have EITHER box ticked.
(so not using deny permissions and not using post count based groups permissions either)

I think I've managed to make some boards (invisible to all other than admin and global mods) but I can't remember how / where that's done.  If I knew that the problem may be there.

Ah Ok I found that in the board under "allowed groups" where for those boards I specifically WANTED to hide, only global mod is checked.

I better go have a look at the boards that are problematic and see if that is the issue there as well.

UPDATE - so I just done that and all the boards I want people to have access to already have regular members checked as having access.

Now where do I look?  I'm pulling my hair out here,

Your not using this. Turn this on and see if you can make things work.

LandyVlad

Ok well I just turned that on. It shows those groups as inherited permissions from 'default' which is to say they will all have the same permissions currently as 'regular members'.

Still doesn't work.
There's no logical reason why post based groups would need to be used though.

@lurkalot

I think I've done what you wanted me to do - there is no change at all evident to me.  You?
You cannot see attachments on this board.

Well the New image is showing up under each thumbnail image now, where as before it was missing. So you have indeed fixed it. ;)

I guess it won't show the new.gif for you as you uploaded the images in the first place, so they are not new to you.
