A small summary of the post involved:

QuoteHello dear users!

As you might or might not know, beta testing and testing in general in SMF has always been somewhat closed to the public eye. We want to change that.

We are in the middle of making a new release for 2.0. It's a pretty big one, so in order to make the patch/installer/upgrader as error free as possible we are asking for your help.

We are extending an open invitation to test the different install, upgrade, and patches packages for 2.0.18. This release is focused on additions to the current privacy policy feature, bug fixes, and PHP 7.4 compatibility. It's a quite extended patch, so the more eyes and hands we have working on it, the better. Your help with testing will be very valuable and appreciated as we work toward the ultimate goal of delivering a reliable release for the community.

What is expected of us..I don't mind testing, but not a live site.

Description of changes, etc, are here:

Emphasis on php 7.4, utf8/non-English charsets, caching.

Lots of the 7.4 changes are in the admin area, routine functions.

Just realized the above link might be for beta testers only.  But we're doing an open beta for 2.0.18.  All you have to do is request access.
