Technically this isn't my site since I don't own it, but as I host it and am the tech guy, it feels like mine (sort of).

This site started a number of years ago when another seniors forum shut down. Many of the members of that forum wanted a place where they could continue chatting and such, and the owner (whose other sites I'd been helping out with for a while) reached out to me to help get it set up. It's a fairly active forum with members from around the globe. Unfortunately like with my Archie site we lost a bunch of data in a drive crash years ago, but it's bounced back pretty well.

Mods installed: Country Flags, Welcome Topic, Optimus, SMF Gallery Pro, EhPortal

There have also been some tweaks to the theme, mainly to make things easier for the older folks to read - increased font size and some things are bold. I also removed the confirmation from the "Mark All As Read" buttons at the request of a few members who found it annoying.

We used to have a chatroom as well but the Ajax Chat system we were using stopped working for unknown reasons and I haven't found a good replacement yet (though there are a ton of jQuery chat systems out there so something is bound to turn up at some point).

I had the same chat on my site and had removed it trying to fix something and just never got back to installing it again.

Took advantage of a lull in site activity and upgraded it to 2.1 RC2 tonight.

Site runs good. You may need a logo though. :ys

I suck at graphics and design so I'll leave that to someone else :P

I'll post them to the site and see what people think of them. I haven't been able to get hold of the site owner for some time (last I heard she was in the hospital with various health problems) so I'll have to let the rest of the members and staff decide.

One further update on this. I am now officially the owner of the site as the person who did own the site died on Thursday. I've already updated the domain contact info and am in the process of transferring the domain (as well as the two domains she had for another site I help out with) to the registrar I use. I already host the site so I just need to wait a week or so for the transfer to go through.

I'm sorry to hear that. I mean her passing. that's to bad.

It is a shame, but everyone's happy that I'm going to be keeping things going.
